Day Eight in Switzerland

Day Eight
- we woke up very very early after a long night of not being able to sleep
- we had called a cab the night before so we went outside at 5:30 and he was waiting for us
- he drove us to colmar so that we could take the train to Strasbourg and begin out journey that will violate our eurail passes!
- our eurail passes are technically only valid in Benelux and France, but we are counting on the fact that the conductors won't check the passes very closely, so we can take a much shorter route to our destination in Switzerland!
- we saw some snotty teenage girls try to get away without paying for tickets and they got in trouble, probably also for being so sassy
- we decided to continue with our plan and it totally worked!
- we were able to get from Strasbourg to Lausanne without being caught once!
-the view from the window of the train to Lausanne was beatiful!

- when we got to Lausanne we went to a money exchange and got Franks in exchange for Euros
- we rented a locker to put our bags in so that we could walk around te lovely city Of Lausanne while we waited for Tom (mr.starkeys friend) to pick us up
- we walked up a cobblestone street that Tom  recommended
- the street was full of historic looking buildings full of very very expensive shops and restaurants
- what made the place so cool was that it was all up a major hill, we were basically hiking while window shopping
- eventually we got falafel sandwiches and enjoyed them while sitting on a bench
-Alicia fed bread to the pigeons
- we got cold so we moved to the sun
- we go hot so we moved to the shade
- Tanya taught us a game where you make a beat and ask questions and Sing the answer
- we saw a giant Saint Bernard drink out of the water fountain in the strangest way by spreading out his paws and supporting himself with them apart... Hard to describe but it was hilarious looking
- Alicia pet the dog, of course
- we walked back to the train station to get our bags and meet Tom out front
- Maggie gave a hungry man a granola bar, he was very nice
- Tom picked us up and drove us on the most beautiful scenic route to his house
- he literally lives in the most beautiful place in the world...it is on a mountain with a spectacular view of another mountain, and the drive included an incredible view of lake Geneva with fog covered mountains behind it

- we got to toms house and were greeted by his family, his daughter Hannah, his wife Pru, and his wife's sister:)
- their house is simply incredible, we sat in their back yard and chatted and admired the wonderful view
- we brought out a bags set that Tom had made after he played it in the states, apparently it is not as common in Switzerland!
- we played a round and Maggie and Tanya got more points but Alicia and Hanna won
- we ate dinner in the back yard, which was delicious
-Alicia accidentally juggled a piece of broccoli
- mag and al thought the family was drinking glass after glass of gin and tonic but then we found out it was just water lolol
- we went inside and had some tea and chocolate we went up to the attic where we are sleeping which is actually really nice with three beds across and a couch and TV!
